So you're getting married!

At least I hope you are, otherwise this would be a bit weird.

It's an honor that you're considering me to capture your wedding day. I only shoot a limited number of weddings a year (that's genuine, not some "I'm really busy and in demand nonsense" .... as soon as I hit my limit that's it, my wife gets militant) I want to make sure I have enough time to spend with you on your day, editing images afterwards and also enough time to spend with my family.

This page gives you a bit of an idea about me, my approach to shooting weddings and can hopefully answer any questions that you might have.

How I work

bloody hard! but aside form that ...

My approach to capturing your day is first and foremost relaxed. There's no doubt been enough stress leading up to the day already, the last thing you want is some lunatic photographer running around shouting orders at people, getting in their face and getting people to do the double thumbs up pose with a cheesy grin. If that's what you're after I'm afraid you're in the wrong place.

That's not to say I won't be involved in the day, I like to chat to guests and get in the thick of the action .... this way I can capture the whole story of the day. I like to think (humbly) that I strike the perfect balance between real, honest documentary photography, some beautiful portraits of the two of you whilst still getting all of the photos that you want from a day (read: family photo for your mum and dads mantelpiece).

FAQ's

Some things you might or might not have thought about asking ....

How many images do I get?

It depends a bit on the length of the day, I shoot a lot .... I deliver a minimum of 400 images but this could go up to around 700, I don't put a limit on this and I don't charge you more money for more photos. If i take a photo which adds to the story of the day then you'll get it. I deliver a mixture of color and black and white images, I make the call as to which suits each individual image when I'm editing them. That's not to say if you get one in color and you REALLY want it in black and white that I couldn't change it afterwards. But I don't deliver the full set in both.

Do I own all of the images?

Absolutely, by hiring me for the day you get all of the images that I deliver to you in full resolution, suitable for sharing, posting or printing. I don't put watermarks on them and I don't charge you extra for more images. I retain the commercial copy write for the photos which just means that you can't sell them to a bridal magazine (for example) for commercial gain.

How much do you charge?

My prices are pretty straightforward, they're on my website and you don't have to email me to get a brochure for Gold, Silver, Bronze or even Platinum packages .... because who even understands them. My prices are:

  • £1450 for all UK weddings

  • £1950 for European destination weddings

  • £2450 for Worldwide destination weddings

What do I get for my money?

Memories, beautifully captured (cheeeeese!!). But they will be good, I promise!

All of your images will be Individually edited and delivered to you via a password protected website, this is a really nice way of looking at your images .... you can view them as a slideshow, purchase prints directly from the site, send the link to as many or as few people as you like, you can make photos's or albums private if there's any you don't want people to see. I used to send out USB's with images on, but after speaking to lots of my couples they all just used the online gallery as it was easier and more convenient, if you really want a USB just let me know and I can pop one in the post.

I'll also do a blog on my website of about 50 images from the day which you can share with friends and family on social media.

How long will you be there?

As long as I need to be .... naf answer right. But its true, if you're bridal prep needs me to be there at 7 in the morning then that's when I'll be there. I'll then be around for the rest of the day. I usually leave around an hour after the first dance, but if there's something happening later in the evening that you want me to capture or if the dance floor is going nuts then I'll stay.

Will I get formal group shots?

Yup. Group shots can be the most painful part of the day, but they don't have to be. Before the wedding I'll ask you to fill out a form with all of the timings and addresses for the day. It will also contain a section for you to fill out the group shots that you'd like, i recommend limiting this to 5-10, this way we can get through them super quick and everyone will be happy. Of course I'm not going to make you stop at 10 but from experience this strikes the right balance between getting everyone in and not having people hanging around when  they could be having fun.

Will you take pictures of all of my guests?

I will absolutely try and get pictures of everyone at the wedding, but I can't guarantee it. If someone is a key part of your day then of course they'll be captured, but if Great Auntie Ethel comes along, stands at the back of the ceremony and then ducks off after clearing up the canapes there might not be a photo of her. If you really want a photo of Great Auntie Ethel or anyone else then let me know and grab me on the day when you're talking to her.

When will I get my pictures?

I take care individually editing all of the photos that I deliver to you, this takes time so you should usually expect to get the full set of photos 4-6 weeks after your wedding day.

How do I secure my wedding date?

I'll send you a booking form to complete and once you've sent me a deposit your dates secured and we're good to go.

Do you travel abroad to photograph weddings?

I absolutely do ... I love to travel ... I've been all around the world from Easter Island to Brazil, New Zealand, Malaysia and all over Europe. If you take me somewhere I haven't been then you get a bonus prize.

What equipment do you use?

I shoot with Nikon cameras and a mixture of Nikon and Sigma prime lenses, I've got a couple of Fujifilm cameras for personal projects because they're smaller and they look beautiful! .... and I might switch to them soon (but I'm probably boring you now!).

Are you a weirdo?

No ones ever to told me to my face that I am, which hopefully means that I'm not.

Do we get to meet before the day?

I'm based just north of Milton Keynes but I'm in usually in London 2-3 days a week, so if you can get somewhere close to me or London lets meet up. If not we can do a phone or skype call.
